My Baby Shower… The Pyjama And Pizza Party Of Dreams!!!!

Most people like to celebrate their baby showers by getting all glammed up in pretty dresses and having elegant and classy afternoon tea out in a civilised location.

But nope, not me.

You see, I couldn’t be bothered to get dressed.

Oops. (The struggle is real guys)

Soooo….instead I invited all of my bestest girls round and we had the most special evening that consisted of pizza, pyjamas, a whole load of delicious treats to gobble down my ever expanding exploding tummy, prosecco, mocktails and gossips! And it was just DREAMY!!!

I’m truly feeling like the luckiest girl in the world right now and I think it’s finally finallllllyyyyyyyy hit me that… oh… my… god…. this is ACTUALLY happening!!!!!

I wanted to do a short and sweet little blog post on my special evening so I could be reminded of this night forever in years to come, and of course inspire any of you future mummies to be out there if you are looking for a fun and different baby shower idea.

If I am being totally honest, at first I didn’t want a baby shower at all. I don’t like to make a fuss and I hate being the centre of attention. I also had a weird feeling that I didn’t want to ‘jinx’ anything with my pregnancy. I was so determined not to plan anything that it wasn’t until late January that my mum and sister took action and told me to stop being so utterly ridiculous.

They kindly offered to take control and plan something cute, small and fun for me with all of my girlies. But they were put under strict instructions from me not to give themselves any stress from it as I just didn’t want them to be put out.

Sooooo… What to do? Where to have it? So much to organise. So little time. EEK.

Let’s rewind to nearly four years ago, back in late 2016. I had the absolute hen party of DREAMS that took place in a real life Barbie dream house. I kid you not. Look there I am about to enter the pink palace in my absolute element.

The inside of the house was even more magical than the outside and there was an actual ski lodge and night club inside, where we hired a DJ. (Little Mix have since copied me and filmed their music video inside there, I KNOW!!!!!) We spent the night dancing away in our pyjamas, living our bestest life and honestly it was a ridiculous amount of fun.

Since then, I have always wanted to be able to recreate that evening again because I adored how chilled and fun it was being inside with all of my favourite girls with no stress of travel worries, and aching feet, everyone was just so comfy and carefree.

So once I knew I would be having a baby shower an idea began to brew in my mind….. why not break the tradition of doing a civilised afternoon tea. What if I was to do a pyjama/pizza party in the evening instead?

(Yes I would have loved to also include the DJ/night club part but ya know, its quite hard to slut drop when you have a 100 stone baby inside you).

And so the idea for the Summers Pyjama Party Part Two was born. The invites/dates were sent and the planning had begun!!!

Even though my mum and sis basically organised the whole thing, I liked to get busy and annoying by sending them daily pictures of fun things I had found on Pinterest. For someone that didn’t want a party… all of a sudden I was in my ELEMENT and was loving every second of the planning. I felt like I was back on the Big Brother Task Team organising one of their themed parties. I had the whole look in my mind as to how I envisioned it. It was my dream to have a rose gold colour theme, and I wanted to have a whole table of Dominos Pizzas laid out with a separate table of classic ‘sleepover’ themed treats for everyone to gobble down.

I was very heavily involved with the food planning (I mean I’m a number one piggy duhhhh) but my mum and sister were totally taking the decorations under their wing and I was not allowed to get involved at any cost.

On the big night itself when I walked into my mums for the first time I was absolutely blown away by her amazing hard work and effort. The house just looked totally STUNNING, and it was everything I had imagined and more. She is a real life QUEEN!!!!

One of my favourite details were the floating rose gold balloons that sparkled under our sky light and just looked so pretty and beautiful.

The table of treats, was a table of DREAMS, and when I saw my insane cake and cupcakes I legit nearly cried of happiness. Have you ever seen anything as beautiful in your life? I think not.

The table was also filled with enough sweet treats to feed the whole of Essex, and of course, my final favourite detail to our sleepover themed feast was the strawberry and chocolate milkshakes with a donut on the side. Because no sleepover is complete without that. Obvs.

It was also around this time that the fabulous new company ‘Bonjour Baby Showers’ got in touch with me on Instagram, and kindly offered to send me their fabulous kit for my party. Talk about brilliant timing! This fabulous box arrived in the post and consisted of rose gold confetti balloons, banners and really fun baby shower games like these ‘Guessing Cards’. All the little details from their box was such a lovely added touch to our room, so thank you SO much for the wonderful gift. I will leave a link to their website here if any of you are after purchasing one yourself!!!

Now in traditional typical Sammy style, I managed to snap a few pictures before my beaut girlies arrived, but the second everyone was here, I was having way too much fun, got over excited, lost my phone and forgot to take pics.

Silly old Summers.

It was the most wonderful evening catching up with all of my girlies before the baby arrives, eating the most delicious food, and being able to enjoy it all in my cosy pyjamas and not having to worry about being uncomfy out at this late stage in pregnancy was just such a blessing in disguise. I just feel so blessed and lucky to have had such a special evening!

For any mummies to be out there who are stuck for baby shower ideas, and want to break the normal tradition of hiring out a venue for afternoon tea I honestly couldn’t recommend a PJ/Pizza party more. You get to be the ultimate piggy with all of your favourites, whilst dressed in your comfiest attire. In my eyes, what could be better?

img_4147

And to my superstar mum and sis…thank you for the memories and for making everything so special for me, I am truly so lucky to have you!!!

img_4121

Well that’s it from me, but I think its fair to say that the countdown is now officially ON!!!!!!

I’ll see you all on the other side! EEK!

Loads of love always, Sammy xxxxxx
